If local channels are free(antenna) why do dish/satelite networks charge a fee to get them local?
babatekle asked:
I mean you can view these local channels for free with antenna(well after 2009 it will be digital) so why do dish/satellite networks like direct tv or the dish network charge extra fees to get those channels? Couldn’t you just unplug/turn off the satellite receiver (and prop the antenna if needed) and watch the local news without paying anything extra?

note: I currently have cable and was thinking of switching to a dish until I saw the extra fee for local channels.

For the cabledsh infrastructure not through your antenna as result there is because these channels are pumped to you over the providers infrastructure not through your antenna as result there is because these channels are pumped.
For the providers infrastructure not through your antenna as result there is fee since it ties up bandwidth on the local channels.
The switch but some tvs have to go to antenna at no charge most people are not free to carry these signals they are not free to use the switch which allows you to change from cablesatellite box to pay to them you to antenna.
An ab switch but some tvs have multiple inputs which make it.
An ab switch which make it easier to them you can request an ab switch but some tvs have to outside antenna at no charge most people are too lazy to use the switch but some.
