yes, there are FTA (free to air) satellite systems….
however these satellite systems do not normally carry the same programing as commercial (paid) satellite… there is a lot of religious programing, feeds from remote locations (news broadcast trucks sending a feed back to the network) and things of that nature, but not much that I would consider worth replacing your current cable or satellite system…
